Binturongs are large, shaggy viverrids with a prehensile tail. They are solitary, nocturnal and arboreal. Their diet consists mostly of fruit, but they will also eat small animals. Binturong musk is reminiscent of buttered popcorn. Content or happy binturongs will make a chuckling sound, mad binturongs will emit a high pitched wail. Binturongs are found from Burma to Indochina, and into the Malay peninsula, Sumatra, Borneo, Java, and many nearby outlying islands.
