Greater Gliders in GURPS

Petauroides volans

Greater gliders are found on Australia's east coast, in old-growth eucalyptus forests. They have a gliding membrane stretching from their elbows to their ankles; to glide, they lanch themselves from a tree or branch and then tuck their wrists under their chin and spread out their hind legs forming a triangle-shaped delta wing airfoil while using their tail as a rudder. Their diet consists entirely of the leaves of a few species of eucalyptus. They spend the day curled up in a hollow of a eucalyptus tree, using their gliding membrane as a blanket, and emerge at night to forage. They may use their prehensile tail to bring back insulating lining for their nests. On hot days they lick their fur to cool off.

Greater gliders come in a great many different colors and patterns, from brown to white to gray, often with different colors around the ears, eyes, snout, or hands, with shaggy fur. Size varies from a minimum of around 0.6 kg in the north to about 1.6 kg in the south, with females typically larger than males.
