Orangutans in GURPS

Pongo pygmaeus, Pongo abelii

Orangutans are long armed apes covered in shaggy orange hair. Males often develop large pads of fatty tissue around the face when mature. These apes live on the Indonesian islands of Borneo (P. pygmaeus) and Sumatra (P. abelii). They are active during daytime, and spend most of their lives up in trees. These apes are largely solitary, the only lasting associations are between mothers and their immature children.

Orangutans eat mostly fruit, but will also partake of leaves, insects, and the occasional small animal.

Most orangutan behavior is learned. Their only innate skill is climbing, although typical skills of wild adults are listed on their template.
