Notes
[1] Concealable as or under clothing
[2] Directional armor, protects only from front.
[3] Available at increased DR, add 50% to price and weight for every +1 DR, to a maximum of triple listed DR.
[4] Gives wearer the No Peripheral Vision disadvantage (p. B151) while worn.
[5] Directional armor, protects only the bottoms of the feet.

Layering Armor
Armor can be layered if the inner layer(s) has(have) a Flex of 1. Add the DR and Pad of all the layers. The Flex of the combined layered armor is found by averaging [DR(armor 1)×Flex(armor 1) + DR(armor 2)×Flex(armor 2) + ...]/(total DR).

Layering armor over the head or torso carries no penalties. Any armor can be layered over a suit of cloth armor with no penalties. Other layering combinations give -1 to DX and DX based skills. (Mail already includes an underlayer of cloth padding, you will suffer penalties if you try to layer mail with another suit of cloth).

Example: Geof, a Frankish knight, wears a mail hauberk (DR 8, Flex 1, Pad 2) covered with a coat of plates (DR 5, Flex 3, Pad 0) and a helm (DR 6, Flex 3, Pad 0) over a mail coif (DR 8, Flex 1, Pad 2) into battle. The torso is protected with DR 8+5=13, Flex (8×1+5×3)/13=1.8 (rounds to 2), Pad 2. The head is protected with DR 8+6=14, Flex (8×1+6×3)/14=1.9 (rounds to 2), Pad 2.
